Itineraries

Of true beauty and Boxer breed, Bella Dance-a-rella is the proud owner of two handsome humans, her pets, Sara Hammond and Kristi Brown. Bella and her pets are the owners of Tulip Hill Winery and Boutique in Rancho Mirage. As spokes dog for the Tulip Hill Winery, Bella howls corporate good cheer. She is a sporty breed; running and hiking with Sara is such fun. As a clothes hound, Bella can frequently be seen sniffing out the hottest canine couture and resort wear across the Palm Springs Valley. Spotting so many international canines on plazas and at cafes about town, Bella always wishes to be the bark of all dogs.

Here is Boxer, Bella Dance-a-rella’s 3-day dog-friendly itinerary. Translated from canine.

Breakfast Basking and drooling in the morning sun with my pets, ah what a life. No, no, I’m the Bella the Boxer; my pets are Sara and Kristi. And, the plaza outside Starbucks at The River is morning basking heaven. Sniffing through all the meaty news relayed by so many canine pals. You can always tell a So Cal dog, they are so glam.
A romp with my pets at Whitewater Park stirs the blood; I bring a ball. Sara and Kristi just sun on a bench. A fun family photo on the life-size fire truck is always good for a few howls.

Between you and me, a canine has to keep her coat up. The Grooming Shoppe, Pet Salon is the hottest place for a canine coiffeur.

I’m not a fancy breed, but I do love a luxurious bathe and styling. Oh the juicy gossip you hear while under the drier, I mean, seriously!

I’m not a good judge, but my pets are handsome animals as humans go. Nonetheless, they often need a good grooming. So while I get the royal treatment, I send my pets to Spa Las Palmas at Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa for a good grooming and some pampering.

My pets might also stop in at Tulip Hill Winery and Boutique at The River which my pets and I own.

lunch Baja Fresh at The River for fish tacos on the patio is excellent for lunch.  Oh gosh, how I love the Mahi Mahi, fish tacos there….no onions, please.

About sunset, walk through Blixseth Mountain Park. I keep my pets on a leash as I can whiff the scent of Bighorn Sheep and they are at a close distance! Yet with great desert and mountain vistas and an easy walking trail, this is a great way to sniff out desert life.
dinner On the patio of Babe’s Bar-B-Que Grill and Brewhouse for a sunset dinner fireside on the outdoor patio.

End the day with a good scratch.

Sunshine and green grass, talk about a good morning. Sunrises are so beautiful in Rancho Mirage and to walk my pets along the Pete Dye Golf Course at the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa is a wonderful way to wake up and smell the day.
BREAKFAST As human kibble goes, I’m no expert, but breakfast at Restaurant Bella Vista at the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa is pretty good grub. I love the croissants there.

A girl’s got to get some shopping in, so track down the scent to Three Dog Bakery in Palm Desert. This is the dog’s bark of stores. Yum yum fresh baked treats, great canine accouterments, and the bow wow of all resort wear. Take you pets for a walk along El Paseo, the Palm Springs Valley’s premier shopping and arts district.  Lots of good sniffing and scratching.
LUNCH Follow your nose to Ruby’s Diner. It is welcoming to me and my pets on the patio beside classic cars so pristine I would never think of biting the tires. They bring me water and I get burger bits from my pets. Lots of ketchup please.

Time to play; time to play! Bring on the agility field and the Tango Day Camp at the Grand Paw Spa and Pet Resort. I am a Gold Tag Member of the Spa; I love it here. Not just any riffraff get in; visiting dogs can attend but must be behavioral tested (just takes minutes) and vaccinations up-to-date. Woof. Woof.
DINNER Pomme Frite is a Belgium bistro that is friendly to canines and their human pets when seated on their patio for dining. This quaint and cozy bistro features mouth-watering steamed black mussels and Flemish style beef stew (simmered in Belgian beer). Ahhh, makes me jowls drool.

I can’t do it enough; a good scratch is the way to end the day.  Oooh yeah!

breakfast Koffi’s for a scone and double soy lattes for my pets another great way to start the day. It's Palm Springs minimalist modern with a pet friendly vibe.
Next, sniff out the Palm Springs Dog Park. It’s a 1.6 acre park where you can bark out all the meaty gossip. Artist Phill Evans designed the Dog Park enclosure. And it features water fountains for low-to-the-ground pooches and their taller pets.

You know a collar is a dog’s best friend, and Pawz is the place for fab collars and matching resort wear. Your peeps can walk and enjoy D.I.G.S. (Design Inspired Garden Spaces) that harbors Pawz, while you are trying on your new accoutrements. Give it a sniff.
lunch The Hair of the Dog English Pub now that’s a dog friendly joint. Founded in 1978, is located in one of the first ever built in Palm Springs. Welcoming to all canines and their human pets; “The Hair” was a favorite watering hole for many travelers and celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, and Sammy Davis Jr.

dinner Have your pets pick up a to-go dinner at Jennifer’s Kitchen and enjoy it and a wild romp at Whitewater Park. Sun sets; the mountains turn purple and you’ll know you are in paradise.

Another perfecting ending to a tail-wagging good day in the Palm Springs Valley and Rancho Mirage. Just star gaze with your pets; and a scratch of course.
