Itineraries

This vibrant Rancho Mirage sixth grader is a leader in the making. A vegetarian and an animal activist, Mikaela acts on her convictions. At her school a gopher abatement program that involved destroying the animals was stopped. Mikaela’s fast action and a successful student petition resulted in the implementation of a live trapping program and transporting the gophers to an environment where they can thrive. But not all is serious for this fun loving young lady. Mikaela is a competitive hip-hop dancer and an installation artist. She loves acting, plays tennis and volleyball, enjoys riding her bike and hanging out with her best friend Tyrah. Mikaela is an Empath – she can sense what you are feeling. So when around this little lady keep the spirits up!

Here is Mikaela’s 3-day, action-packed adventure.

Breakfast So you get to start the day with a good breakfast. ;-) I recommend Goody’s Café. They got it all: eggs, pancakes, whatever your heart desires. Personally, I like 2 eggs sunny side up.
Now we are off to The Living Desert. In Eagle Canyon, eagle-eyes will spot a pair of prowling mountain lions, javelina routing for food, and even a Golden Eagle. Explore the Village WaTuTu, an authentic replica of a northeast African village of mud-walled huts. See the amazing 6 foot tall weaver-bird nest, camels, hyenas, leopards and tortoises. This is a Palm Springs Valley must see.

lunch So far it’s a safari – so lunch accordingly. The Thorn Tree Grill at The Living Desert WaTuTu village serves up great food right where you're having fun.

Ok girls it's time for some shopping. The River has all the coolest shops. Here’s the DL: Blonde has the hottest couture; crown your style with Hats Unlimited and you got to have a pair of checking-out-the-boys-without-them-knowing sun glasses from Davante.

Chill’ax with a movie. Century Theater at The River have wicked stadium seats and all the hottest flicks.

BREAKFAST Don’t be late! Shooby dooby down to Ruby’s, where the food is great. LOL. Ruby’s Diner has a wicked cool breakfast. Try the Light Breakfast Tacos their bomb-diggity.
Ok, oh my, gosh! Spinning 360˚ and gliding up on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is totally cool. It’s an amazing 10,834 foot climb from the desert to the peak of the San Jacinto Mountain where hiking trails, camping, snowshoeing, and skiing await.

LUNCH So like, it's time to grab some grub. Peaks, The Restaurant is fine dining atop the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Everything is scrumptious! Did I mention the view? The entire Palm Springs Valley lay before you – it’s a site to be seen.
Bring your hiking shoes girls, because the Desert View Trail is an awesome 1.5 mile hike providing fantastic views of the Palm Springs Valley. You got to check it out.

Splish Splash to Splashtopia, Rancho Mirage’s premier water adventure at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa. With a secluded beach, waterslides and a lazy river on which to inner tube you can race your friends or just kick back. If you chill and you’re anybody, you’ll be here. JK!
DINNER It's dinner time and The Yard House at The River is the bomb. They have really good appetizers and salads.

breakfast Juice up the morning with Juice It Up. With such amazing squeezes and smoothies, I’m sure you will find something to put a little zip in your day. Try the Orange Berry Tickler. :-p
Desert and eco-tours are so hot right now so book an excursion with Desert Adventure Jeep Tours. The Indian Culture Jeep Tour delves into the lives of the Cahuilla Indians to give you a glimpse of the customs, ceremonies, and everyday lives of these hunter/gatherers. I recommend the Faultline Adventure; a journey through a natural palm oasis, spectacular box and slot canyons, and an ancient fossil bed as your jeep winds its way through the incredible maze created by the San Andreas Fault. Shibbey!

A girl can’t ignore fashion for long, so an afternoon of window shopping on El Paseo, the Palm Springs Valley’s exclusive shopping and arts district, is a must. Stop into Sax Fifth Avenue and check out all the latest styles at so many more hot shops.
dinner Have a fiesta for dinner at Las Casuelas Nuevas. It’s a perfect ending to a perfect day in the Palm Springs Valley and Rancho Mirage. TTFN.
