El Paseo in Palm Desert there are a great number of art galleries. Most notable and not to be missed is
Imago Galleries, housed in
a magnificent streamlined building surrounded by sculpture gardens. This gallery specializes in contemporary fine art by esteemed, internationally recognized artists. In Palm Springs, art galleries line Palm Canyon Drive as well as many side streets. The work of regional artists can be found at
Dezart One Gallery located in a strip mall that
is also home to five or six other interesting galleries that feature new and edgy work by emerging artist. Dezart present lectures, musical and performance events that are one-of-a-kind experiences. This gallery and its programs provide visitors a great way to meet and interact with the regional art crowd.
By far the most significant visual arts venue in the Palm Springs Valley is the Palm Springs Art Museum. The museum is home to significant collection of California artists from the 19th century to the present day, a rapidly growing photography collection, a superb international collection of glass art and a pre-Columbian Mexican collection. The museum mounts notable changing exhibitions. The museum’s performance programs presented in the Annenberg Theater is also noteworthy.
The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert is a performance venue on par with any major performing arts center in the nation. An international and national roster of who’s who in classical and popular music have performed in this state-of-the-art theater located on the College of the Desert Campus.
